European Academy 2010 Copenhagen : 15 - 16 May "Call for Abstracts"

The European Academy of Optometry and Optics will hold its second annual conference in Copenhagen, Denmark from 15-16 May 2010.

Building on the success of the Academy's inaugural meeting in Lausanne in 2009, the 2010 academic and research sessions will include material relevant to delegates with a diverse range of clinical, research and educational interests. The Academy is keen to receive submissions from all those involved in education and research in relevant fields. The event will focus discussion around a range of issues relating to current concerns for the Academy's stakeholders:

• education – 'revalidation for health: continued fitness to practice for eye-health professionals', will consider the issues and challenges relating to the developing requirements for revalidation and reaccreditation that face the Academy's stakeholders as health-care professionals; and
• research – 'paediatrics to geriatrics: research for all eye-ages', will focus on research in relation to paediatric and geriatric eye health.

As in 2009, the given themes will remain at the centre of the Academy event but are not the limit of it and we encourage a broad range of submissions.

This meeting will be of interest to professionals from the fields of optometry, optics, vision science and other related areas of work. The Academy aims to provide a forum for networking and discussion in an environment which facilitates collaborations and partnerships between educators, researchers and clinicians from across Europe.

The Academy Secretariat, based at the College of Optometrists in London, is now issuing a call for abstracts for these sessions. The Abstract and Programme Panel welcomes Abstracts and Workshop Proposals which may focus on the specific 2010 themes OR on core eye-health topics. Abstracts may be proposed for Oral, Poster or Workshop presentation formats.

In 2010 the College of Optometrists will sponsor individual prizes for the best Poster and Oral Presentations.
